Product update: CodioForms is ready for the September 15 USCIS form cutover

USCIS publishes the 09/15/26 editions of Form I-539 and Form I-765 on September 15 and rejects the older editions the same day, with no grace period. All six affected artifacts are configured and date-gated in CodioForms. Nothing on your side has to change.

On September 15, 2026, USCIS publishes new editions of Form I-539, Application to Extend/Change Nonimmigrant Status, and Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, both stamped 09/15/26. From that day the older editions - the 08/28/24 I-539 and the 08/21/25 I-765 - are rejected, with no grace period. The new editions also cannot be filed before September 15. The revisions implement the DHS final rule that replaces Duration of Status with a fixed period of admission for F, J and I nonimmigrants, which takes effect the same day.

CodioForms is already configured for it. We loaded all six affected artifacts, not just the two named in the announcement: Form I-539, Form I-539A, Form I-765, Form I-765WS and both reissued instruction sets. Each edition is date-gated, so packages generated through September 14 use the current editions and packages generated on or after September 15 use the new ones - and any package assembled before the cutover but filed after it is flagged for regeneration rather than sent into a rejection. We diffed the new editions field by field against the current ones and re-pointed every mapping that moved, including the renumbered items on the I-539A and the new requirement on the I-539 to list all SEVIS ID numbers ever issued. Validation was updated to catch a package that is missing the new fields before it goes out.

For clients running on GlobalCodio, there is nothing to do. Filings continue on the correct edition through the cutover, and the Deadline Agent carries September 15 as a live date across the caseload. One note on our side: the files we diffed are the USCIS preview editions, so we will re-verify against the published versions on September 15 and adjust the same day if anything changed.
